Today, we had a surprise CAMPING day! All learning experiences were united with a common theme, camping. We covered many important third grade standards and had a great time learning through a camping adventure!
Here's an overview of what our camping trip included: Fishing (reinforcing magnets and Ohio River), Making S'mores and Hotdogs (hands on lesson on heat transfer), Mystery Reader's Theater (Reading fluency and comprehension), Camp Shopping (counting back change), and measuring the area and perimeter of sleeping bags. Whew... we covered a lot today and had SO much fun in the process! Check out the "STUDENT BLOG" tab to read what the students have to say about our learning.
The Mystery Word is "Mr. Triplett" HAPPY FRIDAY and HAPPY WEEKEND!
Mystery Word: "Radiation" This week, we have spent a great amount of time continuing to refining our math problem solving skills. We have been focusing on multiple step word problems (word problems that require two or more operations to solve.) We are continuing to use the UNRAAVEL strategy to break down these word problems. Please continue working on word problems with your child at home and we will continue to practice in the classroom. |
